Portrait of meHello and welcome to my photo-blog.

I want to first say thank you for taking the time to check me out.

I started this blog to fill a gap in the way I show my photography to family, friends and potential clients. I have a few other sites were I display my work, however none are geared toward me documenting my thoughts on photography and sharing the things I experience on a daily basis. I shoot all types of photography. Sometimes I think I am addicted. I have countless numbers of pictures saved on my hard drive that would otherwise go unseen. I have so much to share and will take on the task of getting the highlights of my photographic career here on this blog.

I don't have time to maintain several different blogs for all the aspects of my photography so you will see a mixture of photos posted to this blog. It will be business mixed with a bit of personal. There is so much I want to get out and I don't want to hinder myself too much with organization (must be the artist in me). You can rest assured it will all be about my love for photography.

Feel free to leave comments on the photos you like. I would like input to keep this thing interactive. I would also like to share tips with photographers to give insight on how I continue to perfect my craft (it is a constant learning process).

Salina and Daniel

This evening it was my pleasure to shoot the wedding of a really good friend of mine. Salina and her hubby had already been officially married some months before the ceremony took place. Faced with a busy life and other obligations caused the wedding schedule to be pushed a bit.

The ceremony turned out to be very nice and quaint in my opinion. I really enjoyed capturing Salina and Daniel's moments on their special day.

Here are some of my favorites from the day...

I like this shot of the the bride cradling her unborn child:

Introducing the Taylors

I got a chance again to work with my good friend and fellow photographer Teresa of Teresa K Photography. The wedding was for a wonderful young couple, Brandon and Tiani.

The location was the Mormon Temple located in Folsom CA. This Temple is the only place in the area were you can have your marriage sealed as a member of the LDS church.

Brandon and Tiani were a blast to work with. Their cool laid back attitudes made for a very relaxed and fun atmosphere. I really enjoyed myself and was able to get some great images.

Here are some of my favorites for the day. I also added a slide show to tell the story of the day in my usual photo journalistic approach (I really love photographing in this style). I hope you enjoy seeing the photos as much as I liked taking them.

Lisa's 30th Birthday

Today I had the pleasure of photographing a friend of mine's 30th birthday party. Lisa, the birthday girl, held her birthday this year at a quaint little veteran's hall located in Rio Linda. Needless to say when I first walked in the joint I thought I was going to be lynched (lol). Once I overcame my fear and realized the I would live to see another day the evening good times began. Lisa and her husband are an amazing couple and always very fun to be around.

Here are some of my favorite photos of the evening and a cool slideshow to give you a good feel for how the night went.

2009 Autorama

I had a good time today with my two sons. We all spent the day together at the 2009 Autorama held at the CalExpo in the arden area of Sacramento. My youngest boy, Christian, at the ripe old age of four has an incredible passion for anything on wheels. Anyone who really knows me knows that another passion I have besides photography is a love for vintage American cars and any vehicle that goes fast. Having my son share this passion with me is truly a delight.

The day was a little overcast as we arrived at opening time to the gates. However, the weather didn't stop the large number of gear heads from aggressing the entrance and creating a huge line in anticipation of the security workers allowing entry to the fair grounds.

Here are some of the beautiful cars that were on display at the event

Home Grown Soul

Tonight was a wonderful night of low-light photography. This type of photography is very challenging, but if done right can produce some very dramatic and engaging images.

The Home Grown Soul is an event that promotes local singing talent in the Sacramento area. Every Thursday night independent artists come to display their talent on stage in front of a live audience. The event is very mellow and a good place to go to be entertained and maybe have a drink or two.

In lighting situations like this I typically like to use available light. When you use available light the photos seem to come out more true to life. Take a look at these and you will see what I mean...

Rumpus in the Rainforest

My oldest son Oliver starred in his first school play today. I had the absolute best time taking photos of the event and watching my son perform. I was really impressed with how well he remembered his lines.

The whole experience for me was very touching. It was touching even more so for the fact that I performed in my first play at the very same age (8yrs old). I play Martin Luther King Jr. in a "I have a Dream" play.

I managed to capture some great pictures that will become priceless in the years to come. I love this boy with all my heart. I am honored to share these with all my friends and family.

Don't ask what those things are on the top of his head because I don't know, but they're cute nonetheless.

Here he is reciting his first lines of the play (and of his life for that matter)

A Day With Whitlock Entertainment

It was that time again today. It was time to get another round of promo photos for some of the artists under the Whitlock Entertainment umbrella. Earlier in the week we settled on taking an outdoor shot some place in downtown Sacramento. We ended up outside of the US Bank building on 9th and J Streets.

I started out by shooting some photos in dim shaded area supplemented by a little fill flash. The fill was coming from a flash unit placed off camera and through an umbrella. After a while of shooting with this setup I decided to try some photos in the open shade just using natural light.

I was very pleased with the natural light photos and all my favorites were from this natural light setup.
